With work, the kids and the daily chores, it's sometimes hard for certain people to book an appointment in order to get their winter tires installed on their car.

They haul every equipment they need in a big trailer.
The solution? Hire a mobile unit specialized in tire changing.

Imagine a team that arrives at your home or in the parking lot at your work, and changes your tires for you. This type of mobile unit usually carries pneumatic equipment that assures a fast job, and offers a flexible schedule to fit your needs.

We tried out one of these companies, called Insta-Pneu. The team arrives at your house dressed in orange-colored jumpsuits, and start working right in your parking lot. On one car, Insta-Pneu installed winter tires that were already on their steel rims, while the other car required taking the four-season tires off the alloy rims and install the winter tires on them. If needed, the wheels can be balanced with the machinery in their trailer. In only 30 minutes, both cars were ready for the harsh winter.

Fast and effective tire change in the comfort of your home.
Obviously, you can also call these guys up in springtime to get your summer tires installed.

There are other similar companies in the greater Montreal region, including Formula Pneu and Pneus Direct, but there should probably be one in your area. Prices vary from $25 to $80, depending on the size of the wheels and the work to be performed, so it's about the same price as the local garage or the dealership. Group discounts are available, and you must call about a week ahead when booking an appointment. In addition, you have to pay in cash, but the work is guaranteed and insured.
