Next month's North American International Autoshow in Detriot will see the unveiling of an entirely new concept car from Honda's performance and luxury division. Simply called the Advanced Sports Car Concept, it provides a glimpse at Acura's next generation sports car.

The ASCC is intended as a replacement for the venerable NSX which gained popularity as one of the worlds most beautiful sports cars in the 1990's. The ASCC follows a former Honda concept called the HSC (Honda Sport Concept) which was a concept hybrid supercar.

Honda President and CEO Takeo Fukui will be present at the press conference, speaking about the ASCC and Honda's global commitment to the Acura brand. The production version would join the TSX, RDX, TL, RL, MDX and CSX models currently on sale, the last two of which are built in Alliston Ontario.

A sketch released illustrates a shape which is nothing less than extreme, with a strikingly low roofline, slim windows, huge wheels and proper supercar silhouette. In the rear, the brake lights flank a possible heat extractor, all styled into the brands trademark angular, wedged shape. The rear bumper has built-in aerodynamic components, and exhaust pipes are mounted vertically.

Additional details will be announced on the afternoon of January 7th at the show.
