After Jacques Villeneuve, it's A.J. Allmedinger's turn to step down from a NASCAR Sprint Cup ride (No 84 Red Bull Camry).
With the new qualifying rules that give priority to the top 35 owner's points, the successful road racer was not able to qualify for the first three races of the season. Mike Skinner will take over the driving duties (246 starts, no win except for two Japan demonstration races in the 90's, best finish, 2nd in April 2000). That will leave the No 27 Camry to Johnny Benson.
Last year. A.J. only qualified for 17 of the 36 races with his best finish being 15th at Lowe's.
Red Bull Racing team is trying to find A.J. a ride in the Nationwide Series with JGR or Ganassi, and in the Crafstman truck with Billy Ballew, owner of Kyle Busch's Toyota Tundra.
