2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class – What’s new?
Arriving in North American dealerships in the first half of 2027, the updated model introduces an overhaul spanning artificial intelligence, in-house operating system, chassis enhancements and heavily revised electrified powertrains.
Artificial intelligence and MB.OS
The centrepiece of the 2027 C-Class is its fourth-generation MBUX infotainment system, powered by the luxury automaker's new MB.OS architecture. The system features an AI-powered MBUX Virtual Assistant that uses a multi-agent approach, integrating ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini simultaneously.

According to Mercedes, the assistant can now better handle multi-turn conversational queries, retain short-term context across exchanges and pull real-time data regarding navigation, stock prices, weather and local points of interest.
The software interfaces directly with Google Maps via Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent, providing augmented-reality navigation on the 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 11.9-inch portrait-oriented central screen, both carried over from the previous model.
Full over-the-air (OTA) update capability allows owners to upgrade vehicle software and purchase functional add-ons through the Mercedes-Benz Store.
In response to driver feedback, Mercedes-Benz has updated the multifunction steering wheel, replacing capacitive touch pads with physical controls, including a roller for volume adjustment and a traditional rocker switch for cruise control.

Powertrains of the 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Under the hood, the core 2.0Le M 254 EVO turbocharged 4-cylinder engine gets significant mechanical updates. Notably, Mercedes added an electric auxiliary compressor running on a 48-volt electrical architecture. The system spools up in milliseconds to eliminate low-rpm turbo lag before the primary exhaust-driven turbocharger builds boost.
The combustion engine works alongside the second-generation integrated starter-generator (ISG 2.0), which contributes up to 23 hp (17 kW) and 151 lb-ft of supplemental torque during initial acceleration and load transitions. Three output tiers for the 4-cylinder gas engine have been detailed:
- • C 200: 177 hp / 199 lb-ft of torque
- • C 250: 218 hp / 236 lb-ft of torque
- • C 300: 255 hp / 295 lb-ft of torque (featuring a 20-second overboost function adding an extra 27 hp)
For higher performance, the C 400 e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid pairs the 4-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor to generate a combined 395 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. Powered by a 19.53-kWh usable-capacity battery, it accepts up to 11-kW AC charging and up to 55 kW at DC fast-charging stations, delivering an estimated electric-only range of up to 86 km (as calculated for Europe).
Chassis refinements include stiffer suspension mountings, recalibrated adaptive dampers, and an optional rear-wheel steering system capable of turning the rear wheels up to 2.5 degrees to reduce the turning circle.

Design of the 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Visually, the 2027 C-Class adopts styling elements from the larger E-Class and S-Class flagships. The front features an enlarged radiator grille with a chrome star pattern, an optional illuminated surround, and an illuminated central star. Upgraded lighting signatures incorporate star-shaped daytime running lights and matching star-motif LED taillights.
The exterior options expand with new 17- to 19-inch wheel choices, new paint finishes — including Miami Silver, Moody Sky Grey and Lavender Silver — and an optional AMG Line Plus package featuring gloss-black exterior accents, sports seats, and red contrast stitching.
Detailed pricing and official fuel economy ratings will be released closer to the vehicle's market launch in 2027.
