I'm torn four ways for COTY. The VW Golf wagon TDI is a tremendous car for economy, class and versatility. Likewise, I really like the GTI for all that it is and all it can do. The Panamera is...enough said. This leaves the Audi S4. I know I should be more reasonable, but this car has such subdued road presence without leaving any doubt that this is a sporty luxury car, complete with an impressive cabin, fantastic drive and how about that supercharged V6...
In the TOTY category, the choice is much easier: the Lexus RX 450h. This “truck” is as solid as Mount Everest, quiet, smooth, easy on gas and darn good-looking to boot. Price-wise, you get a fair amount of kit for your money and an impressively high level of quality and technology that some manufacturers easily charge a $20,000 premium for.
Do stay tuned for our own Car Of The Year Awards. Our finalists have been named and the winners will be announced on November 26th.
