Andretti Green Racing fulfilled the promise and potential it showed all season with its first overall victory in the American Le Mans Series on Saturday. James Rossiter and Franck Montagny as Acura swept the overall podium for the first time.

Briton Rossiter and Frenchman Montagny took the lead for good when it won the race out of pit lane with 69 minutes left. Montagny never gave up the lead and beat Patrón Highcroft Racing's David Brabham across the line by 3.985 seconds.

Andretti Green won in the Series for the first time since taking an LMP2 victory at Sebring in 2007. That race marked Acura's debut in the Series. Now late in its second season, Acura passed Porsche in the race for the manufacturer championship by four points.

The Audi R10 TDI LMP1 of Emanuele Pirro and Marcel Fässler who had originally won the LM P1 class, were excluded after the race. At Technical Scrutineering, the No 1 Audi was found to be 2.5 kilograms under the requested 925-kilogram weight limit. Following contact with another car during the morning warm-up session, a spare nose had been fitted which was prepared for both cars, not specifically set-up for the No 1 car.

Despite not finishing the city street race in Detroit, the two German Audi "factory" drivers Lucas Luhr and Marco Werner have already clinched the Drivers' title in the LM P1 class of the American Le Mans Series.

Gil de Ferran and Simon Pagenaud completed the LMP2 podium sweep for Acura.

Corvette Racing's Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta won in GT1 for the first time since late March with more than a minute in hand to beat teammates Johnny O'Connell and Jan Magnussen. Three-time and defending class champions, Gavin and Beretta took the lead early on when the No. 4 crew got the car out of pit lane ahead of the sister car during the first round of stops at the 40-minute mark.

Flying Lizard Motorsports scored its third 1-2 finish as GT2 championship leaders Jörg Bergmeister and Wolf Henzler bolstered their class lead with their fourth win of the season.
