Corsa Motorsport announced today at the Belle-Isle Detroit Grand Prix that it will produce and race the first Le Mans Prototype car fitted with a hybrid powerplant power system.
Corsa Motorsport will complete as a works team in the ALMS LMP1 class and the plan is to enter the innovative race car the Petit Le Mans event on October 4.
Initial tests of the car were held at Donington in England in July with additional test ongoing in the U.K. until the car is transported to the U.S. for a final shakedown at Miller prior to departing to Road Atlanta.
The car is based on a Zytek 07S monocoque fitted with a normally aspirated 4.5-litre, V8 Zytek engine and a three-phase electric motor.
