Klaus Graf won a second race this season on Sunday, in Mosport, Ontario. The race he was leading alongside teammate Romain Dumas was put to an end after an accident involving Luke Hines and Jonny Cocker destroyed the Armco safety barrier of the Andretti Straight.

The American Le Mans Series’ sanctioning body, the International Motor Sports Association, estimated it would take three hours to replace the barrier before the race could go on after the accident. The red flag followed shortly after and the race came to an end on the yellow flag.

Championship leaders David Brabham and Simon Pagenaud finished second in front of Johnny Mowlen and Toronto’s Tony Burgess. Porsche (Graf’s RS Spyder) and Lola (Mowlen’s B06) were represented next to Brabham and Pagenaud’s HPD ARX-01c on the LMP podium.

In LMPC, Gunnar Jeannette and Elton Julian won a fourth event, bringing them to a championship tie with Scott Tucker, second in Mosport with co-driver Christophe Bouchut. Frankie Montecalvo and Christian Zugel placed third.

The GT class’s winners also owned a fourth victory this season. Patrick Long and Jörg Bergmeister increased their championship lead with this other win on board of their Porsche 911 GT3. With Toni Vilander and Gimmi Bruni as well as Bill Auberlen and Tommy Milner on the podium, Porsche, Ferrari and BMW were all represented in the top-3.

The GTC win went to Shane Lewis and Lawson Aschenbach. It was a first win for the duo that finished in front of Tim Pappas (Jeroen Bleekemolen) and Bill Sweedler (Mitch Pagery). The winners were second in class until Hines made his/the race end dramatically.

There is only one race left to the 2010 season of the American Le Mans Series. The season’s finale will take place in Road Atlanta, on October 2nd.
