Seven cars from the LMP2 category dominated qualifying for the Belle Isle Detroit Grand Prix American Le Mans race to be held tomorrow, Saturday. David Brabham and Scott Sharp set the fastest lap on the Belle Isle street course to secure pole position ahead of the similar Acura of Gil de Ferran and Simon Pagenaud.
The best LMP1 car on the tomorrow' grid will be the No 2 turbo diesel Audi R10 of Lucas Luhr and Marco Werner, surprisingly some 2.4 seconds slower than the pole sitter.
The Corvette C6.R of Johnny O'Connell and former F1 driver Jan Magnussen will start from first place in the GT1 category.
In GT2, the Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Jörg Bergmeister and Wolf Henzler will start from the pole.
