The 4th edition of the Alternative Energy Rally will be held on October 1 through 3. Sanctioned by the FIA and part of the Alternative Energy Cup, the event will be run over more than 500 kilometres, from the Laurentians all the way to downtown Montreal.
Over 20 hybrid cars will be competing, including the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius, naturally. The contestants will have to respect a calculated pace and consume the least amount of fuel possible. The winners will be determined according to fuel consumption, weight and performance.
The Place Énergie Mobilité Alternative set up at Phillips Square in downtown Montreal will mark the finish line of the rally. Several exhibitors will set up shop there, including Hydro-Québec, Enerkem, the Institut du transport avancé du Québec (ITAQ) as well as Honda and Toyota. The most recent hybrid and electric vehicles will be on display, such as a 2011 Honda CR-Z, a Tata, a Mitsubishi iMiev, a plug-in Toyota Prius PHV and a Tesla Roadster.
Actor and singer Luck Mervil will be competing behind the wheel of a Toyota Prius equipped with an ISAAC telemetry system, enabling his progress and fuel consumption to be monitored in real time.
