More than 50,000 spectators cheered as hometown hero Ryan Villopoto (Suzuki) won his first ever AMS Supercross final.

Points leader Chad Reed (Suzuki) did not enjoy himself as much as Villopoto, after falling at the start of the final and spending the rest of the race slicing through back markers, and reaching seventh place at the end. Reed also dropped to second place behind arch rival James Stewart in the season championship, with only two races to go.

To add to the drama, James Stewart also had a bad start in the final, and fought his way back up to 2nd at the chequered. This turned out to be a good deal for Stewart as he got past Reed in the season championship, and will take a three point lead into the last two events of the season.
