Best Compact Pickup Truck: 2023 Ford Maverick
Ford’s new compact pickup was a good idea, well-executed, and properly priced to succeed. In fact it was KBB’s choice as Best New Model last year. Its dimensions make it city-friendly, and it’s easy to load gear into the bed. At the same, this pickup inspires more confidence if you need to go off-road (or at least on muddy tracks to the cottage) than a compact urban SUV.
What KBB liked:
- Packages to boost the pickup’s off-road chops
- Towing capacity is 4,000 lb (1815 kg)
- Easy to park and drive in narrow urban environments
- The bed is flexible
- Hybrid powertrain ensures great fuel economy
- Drives like a small SUV
