Mini
It comes as little surprise that the Mini Cooper SE, like the Fiat 500e, is an EV better suited for puttering and erranding around town work than venturing out on long road trips. Like with the 500e, the Mini’s compact dimensions are a boon for inner-city parking and so on and its looks have it much more at home among glass-walled skyscrapers than tree-lined roads.
Nevertheless, The Cooper SE packs a 181-hp punch that will put plenty of smiles on plenty of faces and with its SE-specific wheels and standard yellow exterior trim, it does the futuristic-Mini thing to a “T”.

Nissan
The 500e may be the least expensive EV for sale in Canada, but the venerable Nissan LEAF comes close and adds more interior space and better range as well. One of the original entrants in this space has, for the most part, kept up with the times by adding range and the styling tweaks to keep it relevant in the increasingly busy EV segment.
That’s a segment that Nissan has itself further crowded with the Ariya, a sharp-looking Murano-sized SUV that shouldn’t be overlooked.
