The Dearborn-based manufacturer decided to fill out its largely car-less lineup with not one, not two, but three compact utility vehicles, the Maverick being the latest. Although, that last one of course falls into the new compact pickup category. Not the Bronco Sport, though, which is every bit a sport utility vehicle.

The smaller of the two new Broncos is a nice addition to Ford's lineup, for one thing because it does get some of the hardy visual parts of the more “hardcore” Bronco, but also because it's a bit more agile than the average compact SUV when the pavement ends and rougher road conditions begin. That said, for those who do actually plan to treat their Bronco Sport rough, it's best to aim for the Badlands trim.
