Unable to pay its suppliers and faced with an important financial crisis that forced it to shut down its assembly lines twice and for a long period of time, Saab’s ordeal may be coming to an end thanks to the help of its owner, Spyker Cars.

Spyker managed to secure a 30 million euro loan from the Gemini Investment Fund, coupled with 29.1 million euros from the European Investment Bank that should fill Saab’s coffers by next week, which would allow the automaker to restart production within seven days.

Despite the good news, Saab’s situation remains precarious and the automaker may not be out of the woods yet.

That’s why Spyker Cars is still approaching Vladimir Antonov, who is willing to invest 30 million in exchange for a 29.9% stake in the company. Discussions are also currently underway with potential Chinese investors who may be interested in distributing Saab products in China in exchange of capital.
