Schroer says, "Understanding the importance of women and their lifestyles is a mission for both companies through Maytag's women leadership team and the women's marketing and product office at Ford Motor Company."
The research essentially underlined what most people already suspected -- that people's lives have become increasingly complicated and busy, and these hectic lifestyles keep them in their vehicles for long periods of time.
Windstar Solutions was the result of that research and it is meant "to extend the convenience of home to the vehicle." Included in those conveniences are:
- Maytag's ClimateZone food drawer (which allows for different settings for different foods) in the cargo compartment and a refrigerated compartment in the rear passenger space.
- a microwave in the rear cargo bay, which many people will undoubtedly already wish were in the passenger space
- a removable cooler behind the driver and front passenger seats
- hot and cold cupholders between the passenger and driver
- a trash compactor between the front seats that will crush everything from an apple core to an aluminum can and a trash bin in the vehicle cargo area, both of which have washable liners
- a Hoover wet/dry utility vacuum in the side panel beside the second-row passenger seating that will deal with cracker crumbs and spilled juice
- a miniature Maytag combination washer/dryer is built into the rear cargo area of Windstar Solutions that can wash or dry a shirt or dress in 15 minutes,
- an entertainment system that allows movie watching or game playing, and
- tray tables that fold down from the seat backs of the front captain's chairs.
