Sunny California will be the setting for Aston Martin's launch of its luxury flagship, the DBS. The gorgeous V-12 powered performance two-seater will be presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance tomorrow. The event features an auction, driving events and a RetroAuto pavilion with various automotive related collectables and luxury goods on display.

But Aston Martin fans in attendance will have just one thing in mind- the latest high performance model from the British carmakers lineup. The DBS is built on the same lightweight platform of bonded aluminum as the DB9 model, and comes powered by a 510 horsepower V12 engine. The lightweight and ferociously powerful package is good for a 300+ kph top speed.

The DBS fills the shoes of the former Vanquish model, which was the last car to be built at Aston Martin's Newport Pagnell factory. Vanquish was featured in the James Bond flick "Casino Royale" back in 2006. Piloted by the latest Bond (Daniel Craig), the Vanquish's brief appearance ended in a rollover crash scene.

To help keep the predecessor planted in real-life driving, DBS comes with such hardware as adaptive-damper suspension, racetrack-ready stability control program, and ceramic brakes. There's even a trunk mounted umbrella.

Aston Martin officials estimate the car will be priced around $160,000 pounds (about $340,000 CAD) when it starts shipping to excited customers early next year.
