A day before its first public appearance at the Villa D’Este Concours, in Italy, Aston Martin unveiled the stunning V12 Zagato, a modern interpretation of the iconic DB4GT Zagato produced 50 years ago.
Based on the V12 Vantage, the new concept features a handcrafted aluminum body and unmistakable Aston Martin design cues. The influence of Zagato is highlighted, among other things, by the Italian studio's signature double-bubble roof.
A 6.0-litre V12 engine that cranks out 510 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque handles performance duties on the track, where the V12 Zagato will shine the brightest.
Following its Italian visit, the car will move to Germany on June 25-26 to participate in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
Aston Martin has yet to announce a limited production run, waiting to gauge customer interest before making a final decision. With a green light, the V12 Zagato would come to market sometime in 2012.
