Aston Martin has decided to celebrate the production launch of the Cygnet, slated for April 2011, with White and Black editions of the model, available for a limited time only.

The White edition will, unsurprisingly, feature a Snow White paint job and seats that are hand-trimmed in Pearl white leather with perforated Alcantara inserts, complemented by satin chrome. On the outside, a white Aston Martin wings badge will distinguish it from other versions.

As for the Black edition, the Magic Black metallic paint was specially designed to create a deep sea green effect, offset by matt black louvres and chrome accents. The seats are covered in perforated black leather, the cabin is decked out in dark chrome accents and the wing badges will also be presented in black.

The unique launch versions will also be accompanied by a tailor-made, five-piece, Bill Amberg luggage set.

Aston Martin is marketing the vehicle as the ideal complement for owners of one of the sportier models, a hassle-free, fuel-efficient city runabout.

The Cygnet will be powered by a 1.33-litre, direct injection, four-cylinder engine generating 98 hp at 6,000 rpm and 92 ft-lb of torque. A six-speed manual transmission and a CVT will be available.

Standard equipment includes ABS brakes, nine airbags, stability control, electronic brake assist, retractable mirrors, heated seats, satellite navigation as well as keyless access and start.

Accommodating four adults, the car will go on sale in 2012 for around 50,000 $CDN (30,995 GBP).
