Toronto's James Hinchcliffe scored victory in Laguna Seca, California in Round 2 of the Formula Atlantic Championship.
James Hinchcliffe started the race from pole position but was passed by Carl Skerlong shortly after the green.
After a long caution caused by the accident that involved Dane Cameron and Greg Mansell, Hinchcliffe took command of the race and never looked back.
However, third place starter and fellow Canadian driver Kevin Lacroix had a fairly uneventful race, staying out of trouble until the last five minutes of the race. Then, he was passed by Junior Strous who capitalized on a few mistakes.
It looked as though Lacroix was going to coast to fourth place when the gas pomp broke just yards from the finish line, dropping him down from 4th to 15th.
Behind Hinchcliffe, Carl Skerlong arrived in second place, followed by Dutchman Junior Strous.
Long Beach winner Simona De Silvestro, who finished 10th in Laguna Seca, left the track second place in points.
