Canadian driver Kevin Lacroix had high hopes that his first complete season in the Atlantic series, with Walker Racing, could become a way for him to prove how talented he was and that it could help him to move up the latter to either the Indy Lights series or, even, the IndyCar championship.

Unfortunately, the young star had quite a difficult season and despite some strong performances he had to settle for 9th in the final standings, which surely won't help him to get recognized and attract the much needed sponsorship.

« It's going to be tough, especially with the current economic situation, to try and get the kind of sponsorship needed to pursue my driving goals, » declares Lacroix. « I'm not giving up but if I don't drive in 2009, then, to be realistic, my racing career will be over for sure. »

Lacroix believes that more and more teams will have to rely on pilots that already have their own money or that can come in with their own sponsors; leaving out sometimes more talented drivers out in the cold.
