Highlighted by Jean-Sébastien Roy's finale salute to his Montreal fans at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday September 20, the Montreal Supercross will also be centre stage for a battle royal between more than 35 Canadian and American ATV riders.

Riding their four-wheel beasts, the local young guns are ready for their shootout match against the American hot shoes coming from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Kentucky, and as far away as Texas and California. For this Can-Am versus Yamaha quad manufacturers clash, the Quebec riders are good to go.

Considering that the top seven riders in the 2008 Canadian championship are all contenders for the win in Montreal, it is no wonder that the manufacturers are committed. Can-Am riders Richard Pelchat, Michael Ouellette and Jimmy Morin respectively finished first, second and sixth in this year's final standings, while Jasmin Plante, Jean-Philippe Leblanc and Philippe Bellerose rode their Yamahas to third, fourth and seventh places overall.

As for fifth-place finisher Dave Larochelle, he rides a Suzuki. Pelchat and Plante, who also competed on the American quad scene, are successful veterans of the Supercross classic with 10 podium finishes. Yamaha rider Jasmin Plante showed his class by winning in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

Americans should be considered formidable opponents as they compete in the highly contested AMA National Championship. The top racers are Can-Am, Honda, or Yamaha works riders.

But, who are these seven U.S. citizens that will be competing against the best seven Quebecers? Leading the Can-Am group is Kentucky rider Jeremy Lawson who finished third in the Grand Slam ITP series and fifth in the AMA; and John Natalie from Pennsylvania (7th in the AMA and 8th in the Grand Slam ITP). Californians Cody Miller, last year's Montreal winner, who finished 10th this season in the Grand Slam ITP and 11th in the AMA, and Sage Baker (16th - AMA and 15th - Grand Slam).

Yamaha will be represented by New Jersey rider Patrick Brown, ninth in Grand Slam and 10th in the AMA; and Thomas Brown, the 2008 AMA Pro-Am champion from Texas. The seventh is veteran Honda works rider Harold Goodman from Michigan.
