Not only have the organizers of the Montreal Supercross decided to introduce parallel jumps in the Freestyle contest for the September 20th event at the Olympic Stadium for the sheer pleasure of the fan, they are now announcing the coming of French ace rider Thomas (Tom) Pagès, one of the best Freestylers in the world.
Last year, the 23-year-old became the first rider ever to execute a Double Seat Grab Flip - a dangerous and close-to-impossible combination of flips. Similarly, Pagès is renowned for his execution of the spectacular Tsunami Indy, his favorite jump.
"What is fascinating about Thomas Pagès is the fact that he ventured onto the Freestyle ramps just three years ago and is now competing against the best international stars in this class," said Pierre Corbeil - Executive Producer of the event.
"The Silver medal he won in the Best Trick Contest at the MotoX World Championship in San Diego is a fine example of the progress he has shown lately. All observers say he is very spectacular. I think the fans will appreciate his duels against other competitors, especially against the more experienced Benoît Milot, who is certainly quite at ease competing at the Olympic Stadium."
According to American experts, Ben Milot is the best Canadian Freestyler. He has been showcasing his style in all major events this side of the Atlantic Ocean as well as in Europe since 2000, the year he scored a first win at the Montreal Supercross.
Ben has competed in the XGames, the World Cup, the Red Bull X Fighters Tour, and dozens of high caliber events, winning on several occasions. You can bet he is working hard on new freestyle jumps in his hometown of Yamachiche, Quebec, ready to defend his 2007 Olympic Stadium title.
