Audi has confirmed that its first purely electric SUV, based on the e-tron quattro concept that was presented at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2015 and likely to be named “Q6 e-tron,” will enter production for the world market in 2018 at the Brussels assembly plant in Belgium. Batteries for the vehicle will also be made there.

In order to make it all happen, Audi will have to move the A1 to Martorell, Spain, while Q3 production will shift from that site to the Györ plant in Hungary.

Equipped with three electric motors and a high capacity battery, the new Audi e-tron model will offer a maximum of sportiness, driving dynamics, and efficiency. Expect a range of more than 500 kilometres with quick-charging capability.
