GM'S MID-SIZE SUVS: The original plan for the launch of the next generation of the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and its siblings involved a debut around the first months of 2008, but now the company is working to bring that forward to the summer of 2007.

These are among the firm's most profitable vehicles, and they're aging against a growing number of competitors.

This is the primary benefit of the firm's decision to put off its RWD Zeta architecture vehicles, since speeding up the development process without making errors costs a lot of extra money.

SUZUKI SUV FROM CANADA: Suzuki says it will build its next SUV at the CAMI plant in Ingersoll starting in the fall of 2006, but that it will only share about 10 percent of parts with the Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent that its GM partner is building there.

The new vehicle will replace the XL-7 and will be larger and come with a 3.6-litre, 250-hp V-6 attached to a five-speed automatic transmission.

No name has been announced for the new vehicle yet.
