MONTREAL – From August 20 to 23, BIXI will be in seduction mode, trying to win over our neighbours down south with five demonstrations on the island of Manhattan. During the four-day campaign BIXI reps will be on-site to answer questions about the new Montreal system and its operation.
André Lavallée, vice-chair of the city of Montreal’s executive committee in charge of the transportation plan, urban land-use planning, heritage and design, is thrilled with this New York presentation: “BIXI gives us the opportunity to export our Canadian know-how and innovations and position Montreal as the new international reference in self-service bicycles. I’m confident that BIXI will win over New York.”
SEVERAL INTERNATIONAL DEMONSTRATIONS
After stops in Toronto and Philadelphia, BIXI was presented out west last June in Vancouver. BIXI then travelled to California to catch a little sun, specifically to Los Angeles, Irvine and Newport Beach, before finally stopping in Seattle, Redmond and Portland over the last few weeks.
The demonstrations in New York will be held at:
- Bowling Green on Broadway from 12 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday,
August 21
- The Summer Street Event from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday,
August 22
- Washington Square Park from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday,
August 22
- Tompkins Square Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday,
