BMW and Apple Computer Join Forces to Integrate iPod to OEM Audio System

Rather than just for music, iPods are ideal for data transfer/storage, with some versions even capable of recording meetings

or interviews, with a microphone attachment. When used for music, users can download MP3 files stored on their computers, and play them back through the car's audio system. And depending on the model chosen, you can store a whole whack of songs. iPods are available in 15GB, 20GB and 40GB sizes.

Now the two companies have combined forces to seamlessly integrate the audio system in the car and the iPod, by a mere plug-in to a cable located in the glove compartment.

With the iPod stowed out of the way, occupants can enjoy previously "taped" music while the unit is being powered and ultimately charged by the car's battery. What's more, the driver can control the iPod via the car's steering wheel mounted buttons, if so equipped.
