If the search does not result in a vehicle that suits the buyer's taste, she can press the 'Wait List' button. This function will allow the used car locator to notify her, via e-mail, when a matching vehicle comes available within a 30-, 60-, or 90-day period.
"We are finding that more and more BMW customers prefer to do their initial vehicle research on the web," Brennan notes. "With our used car locator we offer this service for all pre-owned vehicles in Canada. And for a peace-of-mind quality of the cars, we have established our Certified Series."
The Certified Series is likely to have a price tag that's at the high end of the scale for its age and type of vehicle, but it will come with a limited money back guarantee, a Protection Plan, an 87-point inspection, BMW roadside assistance, and a BMW Service Card.
Brennan explains that all of the vehicles in the BMW Certified Series program have to be inspected, and their prior history documented before they are permitted to enter the program.
They are not included in the plan if they've gone over 100,000 km or 60 months from the original in-service date, if they've been used for commercial or racing purposes, if they've been altered from their original design specifications, or if they've experienced any sort of major structural damage, whether it's been "repaired" or not. Only authorized BMW technicians do the inspection, Brennan says, and any problems found in the testing of all vital systems and components must be corrected before the vehicle is certified.
