In the view of its designers, and presumably the fashion journalists, designers and 1200 internet-voting members of the public who picked their effort over 12 others, "The quiet sophistication of the classic BMW merges with the glamorous urban chic of Hoax Couture."
This was seen to be preferential to the "nearly naked" car of Sample's Tu Ly, which he calls Blonde on Blonde with no credit to Bob Dylan. This technique Ly describes as "layer upon layer of transparent color" that makes a statement "through a collection of sheer tonal values found in the most luxurious of textures."
Joeffer Caoc of Misura won third place for his design that "melded futuristic technology with fashion."
Other efforts in the competition included:
- Linda Lundstrom of Linda Lundstrom Inc. and her Aurora Borealis model, which is "centered around color and the impact that it has with the individual." She says she looks at "the Authentic Woman for my personal design inspiration" and that she designed her entry "to stir the women from the core of the soul, to the courage to be a statement, a presence, an allurement."
- Pat McDonagh has been around long enough to have her clothes worn by the Beatles as well as Princess Diana, and her entry reflects her belief that "The ocean...the sky...dreams becoming reality due to the miracles of modern technology."
