If there's one place on Earth that can truly test a car's mettle and performance, it's Germany's Nürburgring. Many use this legendary track as a benchmark for speed and agility through corners. Obviously, two-door sports coupes have recorded most of the fastest lap times, but a couple of sedans have impressed just as well, including the new 2012 BMW M5.
A BMW factory driver reportedly completed a lap in 7:55, joining other four-door models which broke the venerable eight-minute mark, including the Porsche Panamera, Audi RS4 and Cadillac CTS-V. That's some outstanding company!
The key word here is ''reportedly''. Nürburgring officials have yet to confirm the feat, so until then, we should probably put an asterisk next to it.
But honestly, who cares? The revised and improved M5 is perfectly capable of pulling it off. This is just another reason for German muscle enthusiasts and thrill seekers to drool over the car.
