BMW officially registered the ''M2'' and ''BMW M2'' trademarks in the United States and Germany, fuelling rumours about the launch of the 2-Series by the Bavarian automaker.
The line-up would include the 2-Series coupe, convertible and M variants, which explains why BMW filed for the aforementioned trademarks.
Obviously, this is no guarantee that the cars will eventually see the light of day under these names, but we at least have a telling sign that BMW is serious about the 2-Series program that would replace the current 1-Series.
Sketches of the 2-Series coupe have been circulating around the web since yesterday, which will no doubt keep the rumour mill turning.
