Because one German automaker can’t do something without the others taking notice; speculation has risen stating that BMW will take on Audi’s recently announced Q1 with their own compact crossover.

While BMW won’t confirm anything as this is purely speculation right now, according to Auto Motor und Sport the BMW model would like be a pseudo 2 Series active tourer minivan-like creation that would probably use FWD sourced from the brand’s MINI lineup.

Right now, BMW’s smallest SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle) is the X1, but this Q1 rival would slot in below that as the entry-level model for the brand’s CUV lineup. No other details have surfaced, save for speculations on sizing (similar to that of the MINI Paceman) and potential Euro pricing, which would be approximately $40k.
