Cannes Film Festival — bmwfilms.com and Anonymous Content will premiere critically acclaimed director Wong Kar-Wai's short film, The Follow, at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, May 13th at the American Pavilion at 6:00pm. The Follow is the third installment of The Hire, an unprecedented web-based entertainment project of five original films executive produced by filmmaker David Fincher ("Fight Club," "The Game," "Se7en") through Anonymous Content, an LA-based multi-media entertainment company. The project is underwritten by BMW.

Named Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival for Happy Together (1997), Wong Kar-Wai's most recent film, In the Mood for Love, received awards for Best Actor and for technical achievements at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival. Now, Wong Kar-Wai returns to Cannes with a short film Time magazine called "a fine, full movie in miniature, a perfect showcase for the director."

Slated to premiere on the Internet at www.bmwfilms.com in late May, The Follow stars Clive Owen, as the elusive driver-for-hire contracted by a jealous husband (Mickey Rourke) to trail his beautiful wife (Adriana Lima) because he suspects her of infidelity. As The Driver follows the woman through various stops along the city, he explains (in voice-over) the delicate skills required to trail another person, while "keeping yourself at a distance from the target." However, the closer he gets the harder it is for The Driver to ignore his target's pain.
