But Martin definitely deserved the title. Even though he was driving a 2008-spec car, I was expecting him to put up quite a fight at the beginning of the season. He’s always been someone to contend with, but he simply hasn’t had any luck, especially last year. This year the stars aligned in his favour, and he had a good car too, 25 kilos lighter than ours. Congrats are in order, in any case.
As for me, I’m still pleased with my season – which isn’t over yet, as Hockenheim’s still ahead! I’ve clinched – to date – four pole positions and two wins, some pretty good results. A very positive year, all in all. It’s been a real adventure for me and the team, we fought hard until the end, and I’m deeply grateful for their support throughout the season.
The mission now is to defend my second place in the series, as Mattias Ekström has clawed his way back up and is now just two points behind me after two wins. The idea is mostly to try and secure the victory and end the season on a positive note!
More after the finale…
Take care,
