Abboud said that in his relationship with Buick, he is getting "more comfortable working in the steel and glass of the auto world as opposed to cashmere and silk of the fashion world."He noted one Abboud Regal color combination — the silver exterior and taupe interior — is common on many show cars but uncommon on production vehicles.
Abboud signature emblems adorn the instrument panel, carpet savers, headrest and taillight. Special treatment sets off the grille-mounted Buick tri-shield and designs on the 16-inch aluminum wheels. All Regals for 2002 have a new wood finish on the trim plates.
Underneath the special trim, the Abboud Edition is all Regal. Abboud Regals are available in LS and GS models, the latter equipped with a supercharged 3800 Series II V-6 engine providing 240 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 280 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm. The LS engine is the naturally aspirated 3800 Series II V-6, providing 200 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 225 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. Fuel economy is 20 miles per gallon in city driving and 29 mpg on the highway for the LS and 18/27 for the supercharged GS.
Other standard features on the Abboud Regals include the Monsoon eight-speaker premium audio system, sunroof and steering wheel radio controls.
The first Regals from the Buick-Abboud relationship celebrated the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney. Those cars carried the Olympic rings on the taillight and the Abboud logo on the headrest and lower door cladding. Following the Olympics, the remainder of the 2001 Abboud models carried the Abboud diamond logo in place of the Olympic rings.
