The Ford F-Series pickup, the Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan minivan and the Honda Civic compact car were the three best-selling vehicles in Canada for 2004, according to figures from DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc.

According to the Richmond Hill-based consultant, Ford of Canada sold 71,790 units of the F-Series last year, Chrysler Canada sold 63,559 Caravans, and Honda Canada sold 61,041 Civics.

F-Series and Caravan were the two best-selling light trucks, and Civic the best-selling car, well ahead of the second place model -- the Toyota Corolla with 44,563 units.

DesRosiers also announced the two best selling vehicles in various segments.

Ford of Canada's vehicles won six categories, Chrysler Canada four, Honda Canada two, and Mazda Canada, Mercedes-Benz Canada, and Toyota Canada one each.

Though General Motors of Canada sells about twice as many cars as any other auto firm in the country, it failed to take the top spot in any category. GM did however finish second in five categories, which was more than any other company.
