While pulling for God and country can hardly be seen as underhanded, some supposed professionals have been less scrupulous

when attempting to pull the rug out from under Jacques' driving career.

In a most irresponsible admission, British ITV commentator Martin Brundle stated that it's only a matter of time before Jacques Villeneuve either walks away from F1 or is "pushed" out.

"It does look like a question of will he jump or will he be pushed," Brundle told ITV-F1. "As someone said to me the other day, he's had his career in reverse. Pole at the first race, then he gets the world title almost straight away, and then it's been all downhill from there."

While Brundle's statement is not unlike many others that have been made by rival pundits, his glaring conflict of interest

makes him look like the greatest opportunist the series has seen since F1-czar Bernie Ecclestone himself. Why? Not only does he run commentary during each race on ITV-F1, a position which carries a great deal of influence among those who watch the syndicated feed, but he is also the manager of the very Scot that pushed JV off the racetrack in Bahrain, an aging driver that is living from hand to mouth on a one year contract with his Red Bull team, and doesn't necessarily have a ride for 2006. If JV is gone from the picture, it opens up a spot that his driver could fill, and a lucrative management deal that will line the TV commentator's pockets.
