Consumers looking for the latest new vehicles to haul themselves and their stuff around might want to know where Nissan Canada and Volvo Canada have priced their latest wagon-like toys for 2001.
The much revised Nissan Pathfinder with a fabulous new 3.5-litre V6 and more standard features will start at $34,700 for the XE trim. The sporty version of the SE model (i.e. the one with the 5-speed manual shifter) will carry an MSRP of $38,200. The SE with a 4-speed automatic transmission and All-Mode 4WD system will list for $40,200. The all-singing, all-dancing LE trim with the automatic transmission and All-Mode 4WD will list for $44,300.
If Swedish Moderne is more your taste, you'll have to be ready to come up with more money. The all-new Volvo V70 GLT will have a base price of $43,495, while theVolvo V70 T5 Sportswagon will start at $46,495.
Nissan's Ian Forsyth says the Pathfinder has been "progressively restyled, refined and upgraded over the past year." The key change is the new engine, which is rated at 250 horsepower with 5-speed manual transmission and 240 horsepower when teamed with a 4-speed automatic.
This makes Pathfinder's powerplant the most powerful V6 in its class, with performance numbers that exceed some competitive V8s.
