The Sentra SE-R also received multiple upgrades. The top-line SE-R Spec V model now sports Brembo front disc brakes, a new Volcanic Orange exterior colour and new charcoal interior fabric.

The SE-R continues forward with an impressive 16-valve, DOHC 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces 165-horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The Spec V version produces 175-horsepower with 180 lb-ft of torque.

While the SE-R gets a standard 5-speed manual the Spec V gets another cog making six forward gears. The more luxurious SE features a standard electronically controlled 4-speed automatic while the base model comes with a 5-speed standard while offering the 4-speed automatic optionally.

The SE-R also features a sport-tuned MacPherson strut front suspension with Multi-Link rear setup, as well as large front and rear stabilizer bars.

While not as dramatically upgraded as the Altima was last year and the Maxima is for 2004, the revised Sentra has been improved overall making it a much better value in the compact segment of the market.
