One million people worldwide have now subscribed to the car2go car-sharing service, which is available in 60 cities and eight countries around the globe, offering some 12,000 cars to its members.
In North America, car2go operates in Austin, San Diego, Washington D.C., Portland, Miami, Seattle, Minneapolis-St.Paul, Columbus, Denver, Los Angeles (South Bay), Brooklyn, Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, and Montreal.
Since car2go launched a few years ago, its members have collectively logged more than 220 million kilometres and made 32 million commutes, each one lasting from 19-25 minutes on average.
Car2go gives back to the community
With the holiday season in full swing, sharing is all that matters. Car2go obviously knows quite a thing about sharing, and its Montreal division will be offering up their team and vehicles to the Sun Youth Organization to help with the distribution of Christmas baskets and donations.
More specifically, from December 18th to 24th, 600 families per day will knock on Sun Youth's door looking for food, clothes or toys so that they can spend a merry holiday. The car2go team will help those with reduced mobility get home with their donations following their visit to the centre.
Hopefully, car2go will launch similar initiatives in other cities next year.
