Along with the more sophisticated suspension setup, Chevrolet has also given Monte Carlo a more upscale interior (such as better stitching, loss-gloss plastics, jewel-like instrument panel details), a more expressive family of wheels in 16-, 17- and 18-inch varieties, an upscale leather option, and enhanced anti-lock brakes and traction control.

All of this is wrapped in a revised exterior shape, headlined by new headlights and tail lamps, which punches up what was already the most dramatic two-door shape in the segment.

As for that segment, let's spend a few words on its other vehicles. They would include the Toyota Solara, which may be the most boring two-door

car on the market for any amount of money, and the Honda Accord, which much more thrilling.

With superior quality ratings, more room (the importance of which cannot be over-estimated), a larger choice of engines, and the extremely important and GM-exclusive OnStar safety and security system, the Monte Carlo should give discerning coupe consumers an exciting new choice to consider.

It's also likely the GM of Canada will hold the line on pricing, so we can expect the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo to stay in the $28,000 to $38,000 range.
