Introduced in the mid-1990s, the Express and Savana have evolved in small steps over the decades.

The Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana are among the oldest vehicles still sold today. For 2027, the two vans are remaining largely the same once again, particularly design-wise. But they will receive a long-overdue technology upgrade: the introduction of a touchscreen on the dashboard.

According to GM Authority, the 2027 Express and Savana are getting GM’s Infotainment 3 system, paired with a 7-inch HD colour touchscreen. It’s worth noting, however, that a 6.5-inch touchscreen was previously offered as an option in the U.S. until the 2019 model-year before being dropped from the catalogue.

Standard Bluetooth, but select features remain unconfirmed
The new system is expected to allow phone pairing via Bluetooth as well as wireless audio streaming. Its presence is announced across various Savana configurations, including cargo, passenger and cutaway versions. The Express should benefit from an equivalent upgrade.

On the other hand, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility has not yet been confirmed, nor have certain features like USB connectivity for the 2027 model-year.

Nevertheless, this represents a significant change from the current equipment offering. In Canada, the 2026 Express and Savana still feature a very simple interior layout especially when compared to most new vehicles on the market. The speaker count also varies depending on the configuration.

For now, there’s no indication that the tech update will be accompanied by major mechanical changes.

In Canada, the 2026 Express and Savana are offered with a 4.3Le V6 producing 276 hp and 298 lb-ft of torque. A 6.6L V8 is also available as an option, generating 401 hp and 464 lb-ft. Both engines work with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Depending on the configuration, maximum towing capacity can reach 4,536 kg (10,000 lb). The Express Cargo can carry up to 1,941 kg (4,280 lb) of payload.

2027 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana – Canadian pricing and trims

Both vans remain available in Canada in 2500 and 3500 variants, featuring different wheelbases and layouts suited for commercial fleets as well as passenger transport.

The 2026 Chevrolet Express is currently listed in Canada starting at $56,125, matching the exact starting price of the 2026 GMC Savana Cargo. Canadian pricing for the 2027 models has not yet been announced.

Introduced in the mid-1990s, the Express and Savana have evolved in small steps over the decades. The arrival of a touchscreen for 2027 doesn’t drastically change their underlying design, but it at least removes one detail that particularly betrayed their age.
