Will Visionary pull off its sensational claim? With Malcolm Bricklin at the helm, it's difficult to say. He managed to setup
the Subaru brand in the U.S., but the times are very different and much more competitive now than then. This said, a targeted price of about $7,000 USD for the brand's entry-level model makes it extremely competitive.
When it comes right down to it, the real story isn't whether Chery vehicles will become part of the North American automotive sector, but rather that Chinese automakers are getting serious about exporting their wares to North America and Europe - the Frankfurt show saw two Chinese carmakers displaying their products - and this will, in time, make the already ridiculously contested auto market even more competitive. Of course, consumers will win in the long run, but most likely at the expense of North American jobs.
