Some of the world's rarest and most beautiful collector cars are showcased at the Concorso d'Eleganza- and this years award winners have been announced.

BMW Group's Design team created an exclusive machine for the special event called the BMW M1 Homage. The design concept was inspired by the BMW M1 and BMW turbo, looking back at tradition and history to deliver a possible look to the future.

It was a Ferrari that took home the best-in-show award, namely a 1949 166 MM Berlinetta Touring. The car was passed to Count Giannio Marzotto from Enzo Ferrari himself, and featured a lightweight coupe body V12 Colombo Type 195 engine. Five years ago, the vehicle's present owner, John Croul, had the machine restored to original condition.

Showgoers elected a 1938 Mercedes 540K Autobahnkurier to win the Coppa D'Oro award at the event. It's one of two ever built in a coupe body on the 540K chassis, and the car stayed within the Barraquer family from 1938 until 2004- when it was acquired by Deborah and Arturo Keller and restored.

The Trofeo BMW Group Italia winner was a 1937 Delahaye 135 M by Figoni and Falaschi. A roadster, the vehicle was bought by an Indian maharaja after the 1937 Paris Motor Show before leaving India some 50 years later and being restored in the USA.

A special Bugatti model took honors as the most beautiful machine in the Concept and Prototype class, as voted by visitors on the Sunday of the event. The 2008 Bugatti Veyron FBG Hermes is a collaboration between car-nut and saddle maker Emile Hermes and a horse-loving car designer called Ettore Bugatti.

A one of a kind display of automotive history and art for collectors and enthusiasts, the event ran from April 25th to 27th.
