Rumour had it that Chevrolet would change the Aveo's name and, today, the automaker confirmed that its all-new, B-segment car will be called the Chevrolet Sonic in North America.
''The Sonic represents a new beginning for Chevrolet in the small car segment,'' said Chris Perry, vice president, Chevrolet U.S. Marketing, adding that the new car's room, style and fun-to-drive character are beautifully conveyed by this youthful, energetic name.
The Michigan-built Sonic will continue to be called Aveo in other parts of the world, where it will be sold in more than 50 countries.
