For 2017, Continental introduced a new ultra-high-performance tire called ExtremeContact Sport that proves ideal for sports cars and luxury vehicles.
This successor to the ExtremeContact DW was tested to the limit by world-class race car drivers Andy Lally, Joao Barbosa, Lawson Aschenbach, Ozz Negri, and Ryan Dalziel from the International Motor Sports Association’s (IMSA) top series, the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
“It was great to see the dedication and passion all the drivers had for this project,” said Bob Liu, product manager performance tires for Continental Tire. “For the engineers to be able to ride with the drivers and experience what they were reporting was invaluable. The level of detail each driver gave was extraordinary and we think the combined expertise of the driver’s knowledge and our technologies will give car enthusiasts the precision and grip they expect in a ultra-high-performance tire.”

The Continental ExtremeContact Sport features an asymmetrical tire tread (marked with performance indicators) and uses the company’s SportPlus technology designed for precise handling, stability on wet, slippery roads, and excellent tread life.
