Two advanced technologies are expected to be featured in Mitsubishi's new Lancer Evolution, with the intent of creating a more dynamic and exciting driving experience while delivering impressive capability and efficiency.

The first technology, called Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC), has the ability to actively regulate drive torque to each wheel. The system monitors driving conditions and driver intent, adjusting the vehicle's attitude accordingly and in real time. Mitsubishi claims the system will allow drivers of all skill levels to enjoy sporty motoring with total confidence.

An advanced dynamics control mechanism, S-AWC is integrated with and utilizes a sports antilock braking system, active yaw control, active stability control and an active center differential. That's a lot of activity -- though the second new technology for the Evo is intended to reduce the activity level of the driver's left foot.

Mitsu calls it their Twin Clutch Sport Shift Transmission (SST). It allows for efficiency on par with a regular manual transmission while delivering lightning-quick automated gearchanges. Three operating modes are available -- from in-city driving to an instant-response mode intended to enhance the Evo's sporty demeanor.

Sound cool? You bet. But if you want one, you'd best go make nice with your local Mitsubishi dealer in the immediate future.
