The next smart expected for North America is the roadster, but this is just speculation. No official announcement has been made regarding importing any alternative smart models to the forfour. In Europe the brand sells the smart city-coupé, smart cabrio, smart crossblade, smart roadster and smart roadster-coupé.
The smart press release uses marketing phrases such as "emotive and functional", "individual profile", "driving pleasure with a sporty touch", and "independent car with a strong character", all most likely fitting but much too dry for such an alternatively enticing car. This could be why speculation hinges on whether DaimlerChrysler will be hiring Don Adams to appear in its smart brand TV ads, playing his once popular Maxwell Smart, Agent 86 role. The 'get smart' phrase, in lowercase of course, would be catchy as would be the show's music theme composed by Irving Szathmary.
