A non-competing driver of the Dakar rally was killed on Thursday after he was involved in a road accident with the Toyota of Argentinean drivers Eduardo Osvaldo Amor and Alejandro Horacio Fenoglio.
The accident happened on the way to the Chileto bivouac.
The competitors called for medical support and the injured driver was taken to hospital in Tinogasta, where he was later confirmed dead.
The justice of the Catamarca province has opened an enquiry to establish the circumstances of the accident.
