Dakar: Sainz wins 12th stage

Carlos Sainz (Volkswagen) took victory in the 12th stage in the Dakar Rally, but his team-mate Al-Attiyah still puts pressure on the spanish driver, with two days remaining.

Sainz was the fastest driver at the end of the first half of the day’s stage, standing five minutes ahead of rival Al-Attiyah. But the driver from Qatar pushed hard in the last section, closing the gap to his team mate, to finish only 52 seconds behind him at the finish line. Al-Attiyah is only 5’20’’ behind Sainz.

Robby Gordon put another strong performance on his Hummer, as he clinched fifth position at the end of the day, moving from 10th to 8th in provisional classification.
